Best of 2010: What's Your Favorite Trend of the Year?

Posted By Home on Dec 10, 2010 at 7:00AM

Each year, trends come and go. Some stick, often surprisingly. Some fade quickly. And some make a comeback years later. Whatever the case, you're bound to fall head over heels for a certain accessory, furnishing, or design style each year. To see how all of these fads, whether long-lasting or fleeting, have stacked up this year, I've compiled a poll of the interior design trends of 2010. If you want to take a look back, you can check out all of the contestants: chevron walls; triangle, pennant, and pinwheel patterns; modern delftware; trompe l'œil chairs; succulent home decor; and painterly pleasures. Let me know which is your fave.

Best of 2009: What's Your Favorite Wallpaper Company This Year?

Posted By Home on Dec 8, 2009 at 2:00PM

Wallpaper is one of my favorite home accents. It will instantly transform a room, giving it a look that is out of the ordinary and reflects your personal style. You can also use it for any number of craft projects, too. But, the trouble is, there are so many to choose from! There are so many great wallpaper companies these days; it's hard to narrow down a choice. I know what my favorites are, what's your favorite wallpaper company this year?

Best of 2009: What's Your Favorite Online Décor Store This Year?

Posted By Home on Dec 7, 2009 at 7:00AM

As much as I love boutiques and strolling through stores, I spend so much time online, sometimes I forget that storefronts actually exist! From an ecological standpoint, shopping locally is definitely better, but being able to order online with a click of a button is so convenient! Tell me, what's your favorite online (or catalog) décor store this year?

Best of 2009: What's Your Favorite Shelter Magazine This Year?

Posted By Home on Dec 4, 2009 at 10:00AM

This year we said goodbye to Metropolitan Home, Craft, and Domino, three of my favorite shelter magazines, and many that aren't closing shop are still teetering. With shelter magazines folding left and right, this is a tough category, but there's still plenty of great content out there. We did welcome Dwell's new DIY magazine, Make It Yours, and a new, very Domino-esque online shelter mag, Lonny. Tell me, which is your fave?

Best of 2009: What's Your Favorite Home Décor Store This Year?

Posted By Home on Dec 3, 2009 at 10:00AM

As much as I love to fill my home with vintage wares and handmade items, it's hard not to shop at home décor chain stores. Their prices, sales, customer service, websites, and expansive inventory simply can't be beat. It's all a balancing act, and of course, no one wants their home to look like a catalog. But for the basics, a handful of national home décor stores are tried and true. Let me know which one is your favorite this year.
